Beginning the 2016-17 school year, Ohio Law requires all students entering the 7th and 12th grades to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease (A, C, W and Y). One dose of meningococ-cal vaccine is required prior to the start of 7th and 12th grades.

A second dose of meningococcal is required prior to entry into the 12th grade. The second dose must be administered on or after the 16th birthday with at least eight weeks in between the first and second dose. If the first dose of the vaccine is administered after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not re-quired.
This requirement shall be enforced progressively; therefore, the requirement shall be extended to 7th and 12th grade students in 2016-17, 7-8th and 12th grades in 2017, 7-9th and 12th grades in 2018, 7-10th and 12th in 2019, and 7-12th grades in 2020.
