SWPBIS @ MUES

We look forward to our first year of implementing our proactive behavior support system, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Schools are successful when they help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. For this to happen, we must have a safe environment that is supportive and conducive to growth. By setting clear social and behavioral expectations, it is our goal to create the best atmosphere for learning.

Based on PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), our plan is in place and we are ready to train our students at the beginning of this school year. We look forward to the support from our Bulldog Families and look forward to sharing our success stories with you throughout the year.   

Milton-Union Elementary’s PBIS System includes the following components:

  • A school wide approach with specific behavior expectations for each area of the school.  All expectations fit into the following categories:

D – Do your best!

O – Outstanding Citizenship

G – Good Choices

S – Safety First

  • Voice Level Cues

0 – Silence

1 – Whisper

2 – Conversation

3 – Outside or Playground Voice

  • Assemblies and Lessons used to teach students the PBIS Expectations and Using the Focus 3 language and disciplines.
    • Press Pause

    • Stand Up and Own Your Choices
    • Choose Above the Line Behaviors
    • Adjust and Adapt to Change
    • Make a Difference
    • Build Skills and Habits That Get You Where You Want To Go!  
  • Tickets/ Stickers – An Acknowledgment/Reinforcement System used by ALL elementary staff (teachers, custodians, playground staff, bus drivers, etc.)
  • Superstar Celebrations – Held every quarter for students who meet the goals set at the beginning of the quarter.
  • Thursday 30 –A random drawing that occurs once a week by Principal Henderson from all of the tickets given out the previous week for positive behavior. (students receive a reward and certificate)
  • Best Bus Awards- Certificates and rewards given monthly to the bus with the best behavior.  Awarded by the bus drivers.
  • The Golden Spatula – A weekly award given to the class who follows the behavior expectations.  Awarded by the cafeteria staff.
  • The Bulldog’s Best Award – A weekly award given to the grade level that earns the most positive points at recess each week.  Extra recess is earned.
  • Stop and Think Cards – Given as needed to students who need additional support in following the school expectations. 
  • Office Discipline Referral Forms – Given as needed to students when whole group, small group, and individual intervention plans have been exhausted.
